After the establishment of the National Postal Service, a set of definitives was ordered from Waterlow & Sons, London. It would take more than a year to engrave the plate, print and ship the stamps from England, to meet the immediate needs, another set of lithographed definitives was ordered from Japan. This set was printed by Tokyo Tsukiji Type Foundry, and issued on October 1, 1897. Registered cover from Shanghai to Amoy. ICP 2c x 7 canceled by Shanghai Dollar Dater on Oct. 7, 1897. Large "R" mark. Chinese style red band cover from Peking to Tientsin. On the back ICP 2c canceled by Peking Dollar Dater on Nov. 17, 1897. Arrival Tientsin Dollar Dater of Nov. 18, 1897. "Postage Paid, Don't Demand" mark. From Amoy to Hong Kong. ICP 1c x 2, 2c canceled by Amoy Dollar Dater on Dec. 11, 1897. | ||||
